New Study Links Laughter and Increased Calorie Burn

A study in the August 2007 issue of the Journal of Obesity suggests that 10-15 minutes of daily laughter can increase your energy expenditure, heart rate and rate of calorie burn. The study showed that such activity could yeild as much as an additional 40 calories burned a day.

Ok, maybe 40 calories isn’t going to counteract the muffin you ate this morning, but that’s still an extra 14,600 calories per year and can you think of any reason why you shouldn’t be laughing at least 15 minutes a day?
