Kudos to Denny’s for a Great Superbowl Promotion

by Dave Saunders on February 3, 2009

If you ever wonder if people actually pay enough attention to Super Bowl ads to remember what they said a couple day later, Denny’s would say the answer is a big YES.

In case you missed it, Denny’s ran an ad during the Super Bowl and said they’d be giving away Grand Slam Breakfasts on the following Tuesday from 6 am until 2 pm.

According to this article from CNN, some Denny’s experienced lines that ran out of the building and strangers packed into booths just to give everyone a fair chance to be seated.

In a word: NICE.

In spite of the attempts of some people to tell you that there’s no recession and it’s all in your head, real people are experiencing hard times right here and right now.

So instead of Denny’s trying to fill you with more of that crap, they decided to take action and show people they made a tasty meal, in a clean restaurant, served by friendly people, and even when you are paying for it, the price is quite reasonable.

Thank you Denny’s for putting service before rhetoric.

Don’t misunderstand me. I believe that just because the global economy is taking a hit, you don’t have to be personally in the same rut. If you want better things, take action and help others too. However, I know some of these people spouting “the recession is all in your head” over Twitter and other social media sites and behind the curtains they’re scarcity-focused and face the slightest hint of competition with fangs bared. If they’re preaching to anyone, it should be to themselves.

Thank you Denny’s for such a bold move during a time when your accountants are counting every dropped egg. To some people it seems counter-intuitive to spend when the natural response would be to hunker down and watch your butt.

Sadly I missed my free Grand Slam today…I’m getting up tomorrow morning and I’ll buy one instead. Yum.

  • How are there NO comments to this?! Wonderful -- I agree!

And I have agreed, intuitively (I am not "schooled" or innately "political", for whatever those words -- or "not being them" -- truly means), with a lot of your attitudes, for as long as I remember. But, with every ounce of effort, I DO, too.

With my teeny-tiny stamp-sized budget-ling, I have made a POINT of grabbing a cab when it isn't a zillion percent necessary (ouchy, wallet!) AND tipping that cabbie, and well! We have got, got, got to Move That Money! Else, let's all go to Norway. (Spot me? LOL.)

Love your stuff, Dave -- I wonder how it is I'm so new to it?! Well, no more.

    =),
    Jaxxy.

    P. S. ~ Everyone:
    MOVE THAT MONEY!
  • @Jaxxy I agree. This was a great display of a company that truly understand the FACT that if you want to get you have to give.
